The Lebus State Teaching Facility
With an open view over the Oder and the Aue and its idyllic location on the
Oderberg in the middle of an incomparable landscape, the Lebus State Teaching
Facility is an ideal place for teaching and learning, excursions or practical
seminars, as well as German-Polish encounters. Since the beginning of the 1990s
training and continuing education courses and workshops in all areas of
environmental protection have taken place here. Cultural events and
German-Polish exchange opportunities round out the program of the educational
institution.
The site has been formed both by geological history – lying at the edge of the
steep drop off of the Lebus Plate, 67 meters above sea level – and by cultural
history. The special climactic conditions on the Oder created here a cultural
landscape with many rare plants and animals. A special point of interest are the
so-called Pontic Slopes with the pheasant's eye which glows yellow-gold in
spring. Because of the proximity to the Lower Oder Valley National Park, to the
Schlaub Valley Nature Parks, and the Märkische Schweiz as well as to the Polish
border with the Warta Mouth National Park, the educational facility is an ideal
point of departure for special excursions as well as a scientific, practical
base for working and learning in nature.
