Testing for consumer health protection, for animal disease diagnosis and for environmental protection has been brought together under one roof in Berlin and Brandenburg. On 1 January 1999 the Institute for Food, Medicine and Animal Disease (ILAT) in Berlin, the Berlin Organisation for Central Health Tasks (BBGes) and the Brandenburg State Laboratory (LLB) were fused into a joint testing facility with the legal form of a public institute based in Berlin.
